With the release of Skyfall, the Bond franchise is 23 films old. With so many Bond films, the question everyone asks is what is the best Bond film? There has always been a debate as to who is the best Bond of all time. Sean Connery usually leads this poll, even though Daniel Craig has many fans as well who are happy to see Craig make his own version of Bond. Many top ten list of the best Bond films comprise mainly of Sean Connery films.
With the release of Skyfall, some pundits are suggesting that it is the best Bond film of all time. So is it really so? Only time will tell. But one thing is for sure. Daniel Craig has given Sean Connery a tough competition as Bond. Now my list of the top ten best Bond films of all time consists movies mostly from Sean Connery because let’s face it; he set a benchmark for other actors to follow as Bond.
With 23 films to choose from, it is never easy to make a top ten best Bond films list. It is a tough ask, but I have tried my level best to make this list by taking a critical look at all Bond film.
Here is the list of the top ten best Bond films of all time:
10. License To Kill
License To Kill is a 1989 Bond film, starring Timothy Dalton as James Bond. The movie received mixed reception but many Bond fans agree that this Bond was the closest to the one in the novels. The Bond girl in this movie is Carey Lowell.
9. For Your Eyes Only
For Your Eyes Only sees Roger Moore as 007 agent, James Bond. It is a 1981 Bond film. Carole Bouquet and Lynn-Holly Johnson play Bond girls. The movie was also nominated for an Oscar. After the disaster of Moonraker, this film helped restore faith of Bond fans worldwide.
8. The Spy Who Loved Me
This 1977 Bond film, The Spy Who Loved Me, has Roger Moore as James Bond. Barbara Bach and Caroline Munro play Bond girls. The movie was nominated for 3 Oscars and was well received by the critics as well.
7. On Her Majesty’s Secret Service
On Her Majesty’s Secret Service is a 1969 film, starring George Lazenby as James Bond. The movie was nominated for Golden Globe. Lazenby was replaced as Bond after this film after just one outing. The plot nevertheless was great and kept the audiences on their toes. Diana Rigg plays the Bond girl.
6. Goldeneye
This 1995 film has Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. Izabella Scorupco and Famke Janssen are the Bond girls. This was Brosnan’s first Bond film. Goldeneye was nominated for 3 BAFTA Awards.
5. Casino Royale
Daniel Craig’s first Bond film, Casino Royale was praised by both the young and old Bond fans. Casino Royale is based on the first Bond book by Ian Fleming. The beautiful Eva Green plays the Bond girl, along with Caterina Murino and Ivana Milicevic.
4. Dr. No
The first ever Bond film, Dr. No is a 1962 film and stars Sean Connery as James Bond. Ursula Andress is the first Bond girl, also in this film. With so many great scenes from the movie, the magnetic presence of Sean Connery as Bond, and the sultry Ursula Andress as Bond girl, has made this Bond film one of the best Bond films of all time.
3. From Russia, With Love
From Russia, With Love is number 3 on my list of the top ten best Bond films of all time. This 1963 film stars Sean Connery as James Bond. Daniela Bianchi plays the Bond girl in this movie. From Russia, With Love was nominated for a Golden Globe as well. The movie was very well received by fans and critics.
2. Skyfall
The latest Bond film, Skyfall, is number 2 on this list of the top ten best Bond films of all time. The movie stars Daniel Craig as James Bond. The movie has been widely praised by most critics, and a lot of people have suggested that it may be the best Bond film of all time. With theme song sung by Adele already topping the charts worldwide, this movie sees Daniel Craig create his own Bond, which is right up there with Sean Connery’s Bond. The cast also includes Javier Bardem, Judi Dench and Naomie Harris. Bérénice Marlohe plays the Bod girl. The movie was released on the 50th anniversary of Bond films. Only a week has passed in its release and the movie has already earned $323.2 million worldwide at the box office.

Goldfinger is 1964 Bond movie starring Sean Connery as James Bond. The movie is number one on my list of the top ten best Bond films of all time. Honor Blackman and Shirley Eaton play Bond girls. The movie won an Oscar. Sean Connery has a very strong screen presence which keeps the audiences glued to the screens. Goldfinger is clearly the best Bond movie in the franchise.
