Ajanta Ellora – The Finest Example of Indian Art
The Ajanta Caves in Aurangabad of Maharashtra are the finest surviving example of Indian art. These caves are 30 rock cut Buddhist cave monuments. These caves date from 2nd century BCE to about 480 or 650 CE. Ellora caves dating between 6th to 11th centuries AD are 34 in number.
The amazing thing about these caves is they are crafted by hand. The Ajanta caves are popular for their paintings and sculptures and the Ellora Caves are known for their architecture.
